A estas alturas cualquier aficionado a la música sabe de las andanzas de Van Morrison, una de las figuras fundamentales del rock que tiene un largo historial en el que figuran excelentes canciones. Antes fueron, entre otros, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan y Neil Young, por poner ejemplos de veteranos como el irlandés, que recibieron homenaje de otros músicos y cantantes de la geografía roquera. 

El disco de homenaje resulta interesante porque se escuchan nuevas versiones You Make Feel So Free, Tupelo Honey, Irish Heartbeat o Madame George, que con mayor o menor acierto desarrollan artistas como Sinéad O'Connor, Cassandra Wilson, Hothouse Flowers, Elvis Costello, Marianne Faithfull y Lisa Stansfield, así como el actor irlandés Liam Neeson.

Dan Fogelberg y el flautista californiano Tim Weisberg que ya tuvieron ocasión de tocar juntos para el disco Nether Lands (1977), decidieron hacerlo de una forma más precisa sin limitarse a unas cuantas piezas y aplicarlo a todo un disco de larga duración que se pondría a la venta en 1978. Eso pasó con Twin Sons Of Different Mothers, en cuya portada aparecen los nombres de los dos. Incluso Fogelberg reconocía en el interior de la carpeta que era una colaboración de naturaleza experimental, dentro de un intento de moverse fuera de sus límites musicales y probar nuevas formas. El resultado fue un álbum en el que siete de las diez composiciones eran instrumentales y tres cantadas, mientras que la tónica general en lo que respecta a la música se acerca a la suavidad habitual en la mayoría de los discos de Fogelberg. El repertorio explora más bien en la dirección del smooth jazz, el rock y una especie de sinfonismo pop, aunque a veces se perciben también aires brasileños de Jobim en, por ejemplo, Guitar Étude No. 3. Bajo una producción impecable y la presencia de músicos excelentes, destacan asimismo: Intimidation, Tell Me To My Face, Lahaina Lune, Paris Nocturne, Since You've Asked y The Power Of Gold.
