Alexis Evans insiste en que: "Todos los instrumentos fueron grabados en vivo, algunos títulos fueron completamente en vivo y otros fueron modificados, cortados, muestreados, dependiendo de las melodías en una especie de creación de ritmos. Fue un proyecto muy divertido y gratificante que seguro sonará increíble en el escenario".

Señala en relación con el repertorio del álbum: "El amor puede ser el tema número uno en la música soul y claramente tiene su lugar de honor en algunas canciones ("Close to me", "What is this feeling"), mientras que otras canciones tienden a tratarlo de una manera más cínica pero forma poética, por ejemplo en "Mister right on time", en el que la belleza permanece en la sencillez".

Concluye sobre el contenido de las canciones: "Otro tema del disco es el abandono (It Matters To Me, The Only Apple, Close To The Water). Ya sea el miedo a quedarse atrás o la tristeza tras una pérdida, este álbum todavía tiene algunos rastros de encierro y mi objetivo era dar otra perspectiva sobre diferentes asuntos, mirándolos de una manera onírica".

Neil Young prepara el lanzamiento de dos nuevos títulos de Original Bootleg Series

El 14 de abril saldrán a la venta

Neil Young anuncia en su página web la puesta en circulación de dos entregas de su colección Original Bootleg Series. Los discos son los titulados Somewhere Under The Rainbow 1973 (2LP), de Neil Young & The Santa Monica Flyers, y High Flyin (3LP), de The Ducks, respectivamente de los años 1973 y 1977, y con dos grupos con los que Young solía actuar en directo. Las entregas incluyen también el formato compacto  (CD).

Neil Young & The Santa Monica Flyers

Neil Young And The Santa Monica Flyers fue el grupo formado por el propio Young, Nils Lofgren, Ben Keith, Billy Talbot, Ralph Molina, con el que tocó en el Rainbow Theatre de Londres, durante la jornada del 5 de noviembre de 1973, actuación relacionada con la primera puesta en escena en directo de uno de los discos de culto de Neil, en concreto Tonight’s The Night. El evento grabado por Pete Long, ofreció la interpretación de la lista de títulos del citado disco y también algunas de las canciones hoy emblemáticas de Young, por ejemplo Flying On The Ground Is Wrong, Human Highway, Helpless, Don't Be Denied y Cowgirl In The Sand.

La otra entrega de la serie Bootleg lleva el título High Flyin´, en el que intervino la banda The Ducks, en la que se integraban Neil Young (guitarra, armónica y voz), Bob Mosley (bajo y voz), Jeff Blackburn (guitarra y voz) y Johnny Craviotto  (batería y voz). Una de las características del grupo eran las actuaciones sorpresa y sin anuncio en las partes traseras de lugares como  Back Room, The Crossroads Club y The Catalyst, entre otros otros.

Sabemos por lo que estamos pasando cada uno en la vida, y podemos escucharlo en la música que hacemos juntos; siempre es un reflejo personal de nosotros en el momento dado. Puedes escuchar que nos hemos hecho mayores, que tenemos más que contar. Durante la pandemia experimentamos tanto la alegría de tener hijos como la tristeza de perder a las personas que amábamos. La vida y la muerte nos golpearon, se podría decir, lo que tal vez parezca bastante banal o cliché sobre el que escribir. Pero por esa razón, creemos que este disco habla universalmente y tiene el potencial de resonar con muchas personas”.
