El guitarrista Mark Wystrach insiste en que la labor de creación del álbum The Last Resort: "Nos permitió... volver a sumergirnos en mucha música que habíamos estado escuchando, todos los estilos y tipos, y estás viendo todo eso en este disco. Estás escuchando texturas, tonos e instrumentación completamente nuevos en este álbum, que nunca antes habíamos hecho. Pero creo que ese es nuestro objetivo, con cada álbum".

Jess Carson  destaca del disco: “Hay muchas verdades honky-tonk. Algunas de ellas son la forma en que una guitarra o un acero se enroscan alrededor de la melodía, casi un contrapunto o una contra-narrativa. Para nosotros, la interpretación es tan importante como las voces o las letras. No es solo una gran cantidad de sonido, sino cómo se construyen las pistas para extraer la esencia de la canción. Es algo diferente, pero nos permite no solo tener un sonido, sino hacer que las canciones sean más que solo el gancho... Estamos tratando de que la gente se incline, escuche el resto de lo que está pasando también".

El bajista Cameron Duudy apunta: “Queríamos que The Last Resort fuera una canción lanzada antes de que llegue el álbum porque es una especie de manifiesto para todo lo demás. Sabes que a veces el último recurso no significa que te hayas quedado sin opciones, sino más bien que has decidido que vas por el lugar o la cosa que te va a liberar. Esa libertad de dejarse llevar y caer en el espacio, entregándolo al destino. Ahí es donde comienza la vida real".

Quiero que la gente imagine esa sensación de goma: su memoria física, su vibra antinatural. Es tan táctil pero extraño, pero también difícil de no saber. Es una analogía extraña, pero eso es lo que esta música es para mí. Muchas de las letras tratan sobre alquimia, viajes y recipientes, como metáforas intercambiables para el conocimiento y la sabiduría. Insecto (El Volcán Música) 2022

Bajo el nombre from está el asturiano Fernando Romero (2001, Oviedo) que presenta su primer trabajo musical de larga duración con el título de Insecto, en el que se recogen 11 canciones. Romero se encarga de todos los instrumentos, con especial preferencia por los teclados eléctricos y guitarra. 

La información promocional de El Volcán Música indica que Insecto es un disco urbano, "no en el sentido que se le ha otorgado a la palabra en la última década (cajón de sastre para todo el R&B contemporáneo), sino urbano de la manera que lo eran Joy Division o King Krule. Un disco en el que brilla una poética que nos revela las grietas de un mundo nocturno, plagado de personajes a la deriva, desesperados, incapaces de comunicarse". 

"Las letras de from ejercen de médium con un mundo paralelo que funciona en los recovecos de la sociedad, que está todo el tiempo a nuestro lado pero al que no prestamos atención (o no queremos prestar atención). Ya sea en la punzante observación de puro costumbrismo negro, casi goyesco, como en ‘Hombre extraño’, ‘Despojo humano’ u ‘El hombre del estanco’. O en la despiadada ‘Nueva ciudad / la noche cae’, oda al despecho que es puro Plastic Ono Band. La crueldad no apunta solo hacia afuera, porque en una canción como ‘Hoy te hice llorar’ el viaje interior es punzante, doloroso".

"La catarsis llega en la que es posiblemente su mejor canción hasta la fecha y uno de los momentos clave del pop español este 2022: ‘Fin del mundo’. Balada atemporal, tan pronto recuerda a Bowie como a Connan Mockasin, y por el medio es capaz de sonar apocalíptico sin renunciar a la ternura, a lo íntimo".

La cantante británica manifiesta sobre su primer álbum: "Giant Palm fue escrita en colaboración por mí y Joel Burton -quien arregló y produjo todo el álbum-, yo escribí la melodía vocal y la letra y él realizó la instrumentación. El proceso de grabación fue limitado, algo que siempre encuentro la forma más creativamente productiva de grabar, por lo que teníamos en la habitación de Joel y grabamos durante el verano de 2020, lo que resultó en instrumentos principalmente electrónicos además de la guitarra acústica. Las voces fueron grabadas más tarde por mi padre, Victor Bock. Nombró el álbum en honor a esta canción ya que fue la que más reflejó nuestra colaboración como músicos y la inocencia y libertad que caracterizó la realización del disco".

“Nunca cambio las letras. Incluso si ya no me identifico con ellas, me relacioné con ellas una vez, lo que significa que alguien más podría hacerlo, en algún lugar”, subraya Naima.

La crítica resalta que "también hay una sensación de claridad en las canciones, que Naima atribuye en gran medida al hecho de que muchas de ellas fueron escritas mientras caminaba. Encuentra inspiración en la naturaleza meditativa y reveladora de largas caminatas con un destino fijo pero lejano. “Hay un desprendimiento”, indica Naima. "La ralentización de los pensamientos por el ritmo de la marcha es a menudo de agradecer por el enfoque nítido de sus letras. Ya sea durante un período de tres años en los que regresaría a la peregrinación española Camino de Santiago durante semanas seguidas, o simplemente en las horas pasadas en la campiña inglesa".
