Grabaciones definitivas de Rory Gallagher en la BBC

La compañía Universal Music prepara para el 11 de octubre el lanzamiento de la caja exclusiva titulada Rory Gallagher The BBC Collection, que reúne 20 discos (18 en formato CD y 2 en Blu-ray). La citada entrega se considera como la compilación definitiva de las grabaciones realizadas por el guitarrista, cantante y compositor norirlandés durante el periodo comprendido entre 1971 y 1986.

La nueva caja se creó a partir de cintas de los archivos de la BBC junto con los discos de transcripción del propio Rory Gallagher y grabaciones en casete fuera del aire. Más de las tres cuartas partes de las grabaciones de audio son inéditas.

Los audios también registran el concierto Sight & Sound transmitido por radio y televisión en el año 1977, la actuación de Gallagher como primera figura del cartel del Festival de Reading correspondiente 1980 y el concierto At Midnight' en directo desde el Ulster Hall de Belfast en 1984. 

En relación con los Blu-ray, hay que destacar que presentan conciertos de televisión y actuaciones en estudio de la BBC desde 1973 a 1984.

La colección se  completa The Best Of Rory Gallagher At The BBC (en formato compacto, 2CD) y Rory Gallagher The Best Of At The BBC (en vinilo, 3LP).

Muy buenas, hoy una música no apta para oídos delicados. De la reunión en el año 1981 del grupo australiano Radio Birdman más el que fue el guitarrista de los Stooges, Ron Asheton y el batería de MC5, Dennis Thompson, salió el grupo que escucharemos en breve.

Estuvieron tocando solo un año haciendo conciertos por Australia y grabaron un disco en vivo titulado, con buen criterio, "El Primero y El Último", pues después de ese año dando caña y divirtiéndose por un tiempo, cada uno siguió su camino.

Temas de Birdman, de Stooges y de MC5, más uno elaborado en conjunto,"Columbia", van a sonar con toda la energía de esa música que, o bien podemos considerar  inclasificable, o como punk, garaje, rock de vanguardia o como cada uno quiera, pero que levantan el ánimo al más pintado y no digamos si uno los ve en directo.

Sacaron dos discos piratas más, con buen sonido y bien grabados, pero oficialmente solo tienen el que he mencionado, que se editó de una manera en Inglaterra, de otra en Alemania y de otra por la productora discográfica original. Yo tengo esta última en el disco que compré allá en 1983 de la cual os envío una foto aunque la veréis en alguna de las canciones que mando.

Bueno, ya vale, hoy New Race.

El que fuera bajista fundador de The Rolling Stones, Bill Wyman "vuelve a ser el centro de atención con una nueva colección de canciones que muestran su pasión y talento. El álbum comienza con una interpretación única de Thunder On The Mountain” de Bob Dylan, que combina elementos tanto del original de Dylan como de la animada versión de Wanda Jackson. <Conozco a Bob desde mediados de los 6>, dice Bill. <Solía ​​llevarnos a mí y a Brian Jones a los clubes de Greenwich Village cada vez que estábamos en Nueva York. Fuimos muy buenos amigos durante un tiempo, era un tipo muy agradable>”.

El nuevo álbum incluye asimismo una versión de Light Rain de Taj Mahal, un viejo conocido de Wyman desde participará en el Rock 'n' Roll Circus (1968). El bajista también menciona al guitarrista holandés Hans Theessink, de quien incluye las Storm Warning y Wings, y al cantautor estadounidense John Prine, del que utiliza Ain’t Hurtin’ Nobody.

No obstante, Bill destaca al final: “Creo que la mayor influencia en el álbum en su conjunto es JJ Cale, su ritmo relajado siempre me ha atraído. Amigos a los que les he tocado para que me digan cosas como <realmente suena como tú>, y eso me hace feliz. Nunca he intentado ser nadie más, soy Bill, básicamente”.

El grupo Anberlin, tras el un paro de un lustro y un par de Ep's, entre 2022 y 2023, volvió a los estudios de grabación con ideas renovadas y nuevas sonoridades que se aprecian Vega, un álbum cuya salida el 2 de agosto sirvió al  e el baterista Nathan Young para subrayar: "Con Anberlin ha habido múltiples eras en nuestra carrera. Esta nueva era con Matty Mullins es una de las que no podríamos estar más entusiasmados. Como todas las cosas, nunca se sabe cuánto durará, pero estamos seguros de que nos esforzaremos al máximo y disfrutaremos a tope del proceso".

Anberlin estrenó su primer sencillo del nuevo  disco de larga duración, Walk Alone, con un video musical que lo acompaña, que detalla la lucha de un cónyuge o pareja contra la depresión. A menudo luchando en silencio, la letra documenta lo doloroso que puede ser ver a alguien a quien amas lidiar con emociones tan intensas. Asegurándose de que nunca estás solo, la canción demuestra la compasión y el cuidado de una relación y un compromiso genuinos, según reconoce la discográfica Equal Vision Records.

Sobre la citada pieza de adelanto, el guitarrista y vocalista de Anberlin, Christian McAlhaney, especificó: "Walk Alone es una curiosa mezcla del sonido tradicional y moderno de Anberlin. El objetivo era acercarse al sonido clásico de Anberlin con un enfoque más actual de composición y producción".
